International Dance Awarding Body picks Flipside Digital for Global Project
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) has launched its new global website through Surrey agency Flipside Digital. The site, www.dance-teachers.org, is a resource for the increasing numbers of people seeking a dance teacher worldwide.
Established in 1904 the ISTD is one of the World’s leading dance awarding bodies, offering qualifications across the full spectrum of dance genres on a global basis. According to Jon Singleton, CEO of ISTD, the new site is a natural response both to the demands of changing technology, but more importantly to a strong upsurge in consumer interest:
‘With the recent media interest in dance due to TV programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing, many more people have been contacting the Society to find teachers,’ says Singleton. ‘Moving our global database of teachers online was a natural next step both for consumers and for us as a world-wide business.’
The initial Phase One launch of the site allows users to key in the sort of dance they wish to study and their location – the website database does the rest. Flipside Digital Technical Director Anthony Basker explains that the user experience will get better and better:
‘A site of this sort is a living and breathing thing,’ Basker claims. ‘More and more teachers are being added to the database every week and the site will become a fantastic resource for parents, students and teachers alike.’
The ISTD chose Flipside Digital as they believed the agency had both the intellectual ‘bandwidth’ and experience to deliver the site:
‘With our reputation as a global body we have an enormous number of stakeholders,’ said Jon Singleton, ‘and it was essential we could work with a team we cold trust to delivery on brief, on budget and on time. Flipside Digital demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of all the challenges, had all the credentials to be the right partner, and delivered on all their promises.’
